Problem with Via 4 in 1

Got my partitions sorted out on one machine, but problems with another that uses via 4in1. Works as it should on the first primary partition, but when I try to apply it to the second-hidden etc. partition, I get an error message saying it can't find a temp file. I used PE to create a primary partition for OS Sel and that works with a non via machine, but no amount of squirming lets me do it on this one unless I put OS Sel in the first partition along with PE, which is not what I want at all-is it possible there is residue from previous installations hanging around from previous expiriments with this machine, tho I thought I had it all cleaned out, any thoughts?
