it's says please eject your windows NT CD is that what you are using?

when you do the hack you are suppose to get some kind of error, or a warning because you are changing a MS signed file. normally when you install a theme the system will check it's signed by MS, as all the themes aren't signed by MS something has to be done to allow the themes, so the uxtheme.dll is changed. that might be why you are getting the error. but, i'm not sure.

you could try another uxtheme patcher. i've got one somewhere i could give you if you need it.

I've got exactly the same error message when I tried to install it on a Toshiba laptop - never got this problem on other PCs :doubt: . I guess one of the Toshiba config' utility is preventing changes to the desktop layout... (ie When you try to modify some settings for the systray, changes are not applied), but I didn't look for the culprit yet. Desktop settings seems as "locked" on theses Toshiba laptops.

In the meantime that's unfair from Toshiba, as they prevent user from changing skins or desktop settings  .

grab the appropriate uxtheme file from here: http://www.anti-tgtsoft.com/repository/uxtheme/
and download a copy of replacer: http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/
extract the contents of replacer to an empty folder. run replacer.cmd and drag in the original uxtheme.dll, then drag in the modified uxtheme.dll that you downloaded, and let it replace the file. reboot when prompted.

With a little modification it worked but still to play with it. Thansk. Also this-

well wincustomize has theme stuff for stardock products, most of which are paid. i think the come in limited free variants tho.

deviantart.com has theme stuff for lots of other products, not just those of stardock. but i only use iconpackager and windowblinds, so im not certain those other programs. im also not sure about cursors.

once you have done the uxtheme.dll hack you can get themes from this link
    http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=36

to use the theme go into the folder and double-click the .msstyles file, make sure you don't click on the .theme files, the two files look alike.

you can put the themes here WINDOWS>resources>themes

    here's an Ubuntu theme :D

oh, you want icons and cursors. icons have to be .ico files. you can use this program

So I was able to make this. Clear Vista like theme plus one vista like wall paper. Icon tweaker and Styler. All free. U can see ObjectDock free version and some yahoo widgets as well.
Even I put a new set of cursors also.
