As by title. CPU usage at 50% just after the boot, without any operations. Since today, suddenly.
    - no virus; anyway, over my av in real time, I did a second scan with Emsisoft: pc clean.
    - no new software: the same I use normally.
    - at the startup only the usual three programs: HIPS, client email and program for background.
    - System Idle process uses most part of 50% CPU usage.
    - Process Explorer confirm it, but it doesn't give me any useful information.
    - CPU: Intel Core i5 - RAM DDR3 8 GB - GrapihcCard Nvidia GeForce 2 GB - SSD Kingston.

    Any idea ?

Heck I see 100% after boot and it is usually prefetch or updates to Windows insider builds.
Task manager should show the culprit. On Windows 10 they are always an orange color ofr high disk and CPU usage.

Are you only troubled by the fact that System idle process is nearly 50% ?? System idle process is the percentage of the CPU that is not doing anything.

Thinking that you knew that and it's the other 50% you concerned about, but just checking.

Thank you. My problem is not System idle process, but the fact that already after the system boot CPU is over 50% while before today it was much lower.

your task manager should show what processes are using the 50%.In my experiences its usually windows update or a problem with windows update i.e not working correctly,or even a problem with internet explorer (even though you may not be using it) that causes it.

Grasping at straws -- Do you have Process Explorer to "Show Processes from All Users" under "View?"

Another grasp - install Process Lasso (Turn off Process Lasso Core Engine via right-clicking tray icon if you don't want process cpu balancing).

    PL has an excellent GUI.

Dunno why the mysterious CPU usage is not showing in PE.

I installed it: it show the same processes as PE does.

Watching again both the programs, I noted The process of Intel Management Console using much CPU: I killed it and CPU usage went down to 2%. Then IMC came back and CPU usage went to 50%.
So I uninstalled Intel Management Console.
