    just installed ecryptfs (debian Lenny).
    However, when I try to run it (as normal user), I get the following

    Code:
    $ ecryptfs-setup-private
    Enter your login passphrase:
    And it wont accept any password (naturally since this is the first time I'm running it).

    Have you tried the user password ?
    and RTFM? man ecrypt*...
    Sorry I can't be of more specific help. Only experience I have with ecryptfs is on Ubuntu where it's all set up for you at install time.

    Yeah, tried the user password; didnt help.

    However if I do
    Code:
    ecryptfs-setup-private -l mypassword
    it works. But 1) my password is displayed in this fashion, and 2)it is stored in bash history...

    But I dont think the setup is correct, as the data in Private remains unencrpted (in addition to the encrypted copy in .Private), even when I logout, and accesible by say root.
