I am a new user to Acronis True Image V8, as well as to backing up.I must backup my hard drive only to CDroms--my entire hard drive is only 40 GB. I purchased the V8 CDRom version of the program[which was build 768]. When the backup process failed, I downloaded and installed build 796. This, too, failed, and I had to download an additonal download, True Image 8.0_cdlog_s_en.zip, a special cd-writing support file.[build 786].
Acronis has advised me to unistall the Acronis program, and download and install the updated version, build 800.Will that cd-writing support file have to be downloaded and reinstalled again as well?
Also, will the backup I made with the program [before the update I will now download] still be valid, or do I have to create another, new backup?
I am thoroughly confused, and would welcome any help you can provide.

    Hello bluesman821,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

You can install the latest build even from scratch without any previous builds installed. Also you may install the latest build over any older build. To get access to updates you should register your software first at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/registration/. The updates are available at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

    Thank you.
