hi i've got this task running PRISMXL.SYS - it appears to be a legitimate process but the question is where did it come from? (installed by computer manufacturer? microsoft? other?) and what is it for? and who is New Boundary Technologies Inc?

answers on a postcard posted to this thread please.

Is this your own computer or do yuo share with someone?

Who did you buy your computer from, is it a dell or compaq?

It may be software put on your computer by the manufacturer to allow autoamtic updates etc or it may be more for a more devious purpose ?

This is their website, it says for remote monitoring and control!

you can go into services from management and stop and disable the service if you want, and use hijack this to fix the entry if you want to?

This would be done by following the info below!

Click Start > Run > and type in:

    services.msc

    Click OK.

In the services window find PRISMXL.SYS
Right click and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service
Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type"
in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the
    Services utility.

Note: You may get an error here when trying to access the properties of the
service. If you do get an error, just select the service and look there in
the top left of the main service window and click "Stop" to stop the service. If that gives an error or it is already stopped, just skip this step and proceed with the rest.
