Prey v1.7.4 Released (April 11, 2018) Website Download (Windows, Linux, mac, Android) What's up: Location Awareness, Custom Wipe, and a renewed Desktop Experience! April 11, 2018 https://www.preyproject.com/en/blog/whats-up-triple-feature-expansion-location-settings
I have it on my mobile and my laptop. Works great with both. Not worth putting on desktop [for me] because it is not an OS that runs on any hardware you own. It is all controlled from your account at https://panel.preyproject.com/app. And my desktop is backed up, insured and very hard to steal.

Recently downloaded, have yet to install, Prey Basic Free; the chances of having my Laptop stolen is minimal. But, I wanted to ask other forum members their recommendation or suggestions before I installed the program. Currently, I have an anti-theft program installed through my ESET Internet Security software and most likely I will renew ESET when the subscription expires. Regardless, what do you think? As always I will appreciate all replies and would thank you in advance. John
No suggestions or recommendations? No idea if the anti-theft capability offered by ESET Internet Security if sufficient? Should I not renew my ESET subscription, should I install Prey Basic then? Is it wise to have two anti-theft programs running at the same time? Or, with minimal chances of my Laptop being stolen do I need an anti-theft program? If any member has experience with Prey Basic Free and would be willing to share their experience I would appreciate any and all replies. Thanks in advance. John
I now use it on my laptop only. Had it on an android phone I used for a short time. Worked well on both. I use Prey as a locator only - there is no substitute for encryption. It is free. Why not just try it and see if it works for you. [disclaimer - I'm no expert] I feel confident that running 2 similar anti-theft programmes won't blow up your laptop.
