I've installed Prevx1 to test it out. It says 30 day trial for "cleaning" and 365 days for "detection". Isn't it free for life?

Also, if it's not, are there nags and stuff? Is there a free verson that it reverts to, like ewido does?

    Hi kdm31091,

Prevx1 has never been completely free for life. Prevx1-R (our ongoing beta programme) is free for life in return for assisting us with beta testing - but that programme is fully subscribed at the moment.

However, unlike most AVs/HIPS that charge you whether or not you get infected, Prevx1 is free from installation until the day you actually get infected. Those detection/cheanup dates are rolling days, so tomorrow it will still show 365 days again for detection and it will still show 30 days cleanup provided you haven't been infected.

Also unlike some AVs Prevx1 is free for cleanup until 30 days after you first get an infection. Obviously if you were already infected before you install (which many of our new users are) you only get those initial 30 days for free.

After the cleanup expires, assuming you dont subscribe to the cleanup service, Prevx1 will still provide detection for you for free. It is up to you whether you subscribe as soon as your cleanup expires - so you get continuous protection - or at a later date when/if you get infected. Of course you're also free to attempt to remove the infection manually or with another tool. When you buy cleanup you do not have to buy a year's subscription - you can buy as little as a month if your wish.

    Hope that helps clarify things.

prevx1 has no nag screens. just a splash screen on startup.

Got it. Thanks for your good answers. I'll give it a test run.
