How is the CPU usage in this one. I've been reluctant to put Prevx1 back because the last update started killing my CPU.

That sounds like that may have been a conflict with something on your system, there hasn't been any overall problems with CPU usage that we have seen. The overall performance has been improved in this version, though. If you have any problems, just write in to support and we'd be happy to help. Remember that the R version is beta, so bugs are to be expected to some degree. Just make sure to report them if/when you encounter them, it's a big help :)

    Re: Prevx1 R update (v1.2.0.34)

R version updated to v1.2.0.34, Prevx1 (non-"R") version should be updated this week. Changes listed below include changes in .32 as well.

Included in this release are the following:

    - New improved Generic Cleanup and Malware Removal Functionality.
    - New Installation process with localized heuristics.
    - Verification step is now nolonger required on installation.
    - Improved offline and dialup user support.
    - Full support for Windows 2003
    - Optimisation of policies and performance improvements.
    - Process Scan on startup implemented, inlcuding DLL checks.
    - Improved support for DVD and CD drivers.
    - Improved handling of lock files on scanning.
    - Holding Cell content detected on Startup and multiple file jailing supported.
    - Improved exception handling to track issues more effectively.
    - Agent and Core code memory leaks resolved.
    - Ability to detect Digitally signed drivers and PE files.
    - Improved Rootkit detection functionality.
    - Fix for limited user accounts, potential crash in the console.
    - Fix for the “Opera-Download-Access-Denied” bug
    - Info popup now opaque
    - Updated driver protection to prevent 3rd party patching (eg McAfee)

The new cleanup functionality is the biggest part of this update. Prevx1 is now much better at cleaning up infected computers. My own tests did remarkably well with very heavy infections. After a few seconds of scanning it removed everything in memory (including injected DLLs) and all the associated files on disk. You can then run a scan to pick up any remaining dormant files. This is a vast improvment over previous versions that detect files on scan and simply try to remove the single files, without removing associated files and registry entries. It should still be kept in mind, however, that the R version is beta, so if you find any bugs please report them.
