Please excuse the newbie question, I did a search here but didn't see any mention of this issue. I have the paid Prevx+SafeOnline program, and, I'm finding that after a period of time has passed, I am being logged out of forums, including here at Wilders. I'd say it's along the lines of about 20 minutes. I never had the issue before Prevx came along, but it very well could be something unrelated to Prevx. It's also very possible I'm missing something extremely obvious and will feel like a fool when this gets answered :D

Well whatever that someone is trying to say, they can just come on out with it, lol. I went away for a few moments, came back, and was logged out of here again.

I never have experienced that situation can you give us some more details such as what OS and if it is 32bit or 64bit and other realtime security applications that are running and what Browsers it happening to and of course the Version of Prevx with SafeOnline you are using?

Hi there, Triple. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit. The only real-time I have going is of course Prevx+SafeOnline V 3.0.5.179, and Avast 5 Free. This is occuring in Firefox 3.6.8. It's very random actually, often it will log me out, as I said, after about 20 minutes of either not interacting with the page or being in another tab. But, a few times, including as I write this after being away a bit, I'm still logged in with no issue.

@Cudi: They use a cookie, yes, as just about all of these types of websites do. But no, the browser is staying open when this happens, so cookies aren't being deleted, at least not by me, and shouldn't be by Firefox.

Nothing at all actually happens, I just come back, refresh the page, and I'm logged out. I keep Wilders open a lot to keep track of new threads, replies, and such, so I'm often refreshing the pages. Up until Prevx came along, I wasn't seeing this issue.

Edit: You know, now that I think about it, this didn't happen when I had the Facebook Version of SafeOnline. Perhaps a feature in paid is the root of the issue?

When trying to diagnose the logout issue while here on Wilders Security, note that our session timeout is 15 minutes. If all the occurrences of being logged out happen after being idle (not clicking any forum links) for 15 minutes, then my guess would be that you are losing cookie values somehow, as Cudni is suggesting. The best guess is that your cookies are being treated as "session cookies" not permanent cookies. Privacy, proxying and filtering software are the most likely culprits for causing this to happen, as well as special browser settings, of course.

Can you please send a scan log to Prevx as stated in this post: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1662381&postcount=1 with a link to this thread to see if they can find something in log to see if it is a Prevx issue!

That certainly makes sense, it's just strange how not only didn't it start happening until I put Prevx in, but neither did it happen with the free version of SafeOnline, which I assume is the only browser protection application with Prevx.

I asked Prevx to save scan results and then did a scan, but I'm not finding a log anywhere?

Click Tools > Save Scan Results and send the log to report@prevxresearch.com. Default will put it on your Desktop!

OK great but I don't think it is a Prevx issue though as SafeOnline protects cookies, but Joe or someone else will let us know!

It very well might not be, I wasn't pointing fingers intentionally, it's just strange how I'm now having that happen. Thanks a lot for your help :)

Any update on this? I've yet to receive a reply back from support. This is happening with javascript enabled AND disabled, and after looking into the cookie issue. I can tell you it's starting to become annoying as it sometimes happens in the middle of writing a post here and, upon clicking submit, losing everything because I have to sign back in. Unless something has changed here at the forum lately, I'm kind of having to point the finger in the direction of Prevx, as, once again, this was not happening until it was installed. It's certainly not the most serious issue in the world, but it can drive a person nuts at times.

Sorry you are still having trouble can you try IE for awhile to see if you have that problem and if everything is fine with IE then try to reinstall FF 3.6.8 again to see if that helps but PrevxHelp should be around to give you more suggestions!

Sorry about that... I was waiting for your email but apparently it got spam-trapped :doubt: I've found it now and made some changes within our database which may correct the issues. Could you try running a scan and then rebooting and see if it works any better?

If not, as a test, it might be worthwhile uninstalling Prevx to see if the issues subside.

Let me know your results! :)

I'm going to leave Wilders up in an IE window a while longer to make sure, but so far I'm not having this issue in IE. Are the folks at Prevx aware that SafeOnline either isn't working or is hidden when using Sandboxie? The Prevx tab doesn't show while a browser is sandboxed, but all is well again when ran normally.
