    Hi,

I've checked 'prevent any programs from modifying HOSTS file'. Will there be any adverse effect now?

    Best Wishes,
    Amit

No, unless you use third party software that use the hosts files (typically other security software that uses hosts file to blacklist bad web sites/IPs).

The only apps I can think of which could deal with that blacklisting thing are Malwarebytes Antimalware website blocking feature and AdBlock Plus add-on in firefox. So what do you think?:doubt:

If your running MBAM in realtime and WSA then you have 2 things protecting you already MBAM Web Blocking protection and WSA's Web Threat Shield will block bad websites so your good to go, AdBlock Plus is just that it Blocks ads! https://detail.webrootanywhere.com/agenthelp.asp?n=Changing_Web_Threat_shield_settings ;)

MBAM does not use the hosts file to filter IPs.
So you should be safe to lock it, if you wish. :thumb:
