Is there a mode of Acronis whereby one can copy a full, uncompacted image from one hard drive to a second drive -- the works, operating system, boot sectors, register, etc. -- such that, if the main hard drive fails, one need only toss it, change the jumpers on the second drive from slave to master, and boot from the second drive?

    Hi,
Just use the ''clone the hard disk'' device to do that!

Based on support issues however I'd think twice now before purchasing any acronis software. Just read the angry posts in this forum.

The forum is where folks go to discuss problems. You can't expect to smell roses here. Of course you see mostly probs here. But most folks really like ATI 9 and/or 10. I've had as good or better support, including this forum, with ATI, than any other software I've owned. This forum is the thing that really makes support as good as it is.

In all case, I am very satisfied of ATI, also with the fast support, and this support does perfectly their job.

That can be said also once,

    Hello swilson7,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

As babac pointed, the operation you want can be performed using Clone Disk tool - it migrates/copies the entire contents of one disk drive to another.
You can find the detailed instructions on using the Clone Disk tool in chapter "Transferring the system to a
new disk" of the respective User's Guide.

If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

    Thank you.
