Postcard from my sisters pc

  1. Having installed AVG on my sisters pc a few weeks ago to replace the AntiVir I previously installed I was recently called back once again to remove all the malware downloaded by her teenage son which AntiVir, AVG and MS Antispyware had successively let through, most notably Smitfraud and assorted other trojans and spyware.

I ran several antivirus, antitrojan and antispyware programs as well as a specific program to remove the Smitfraud blue screen. I then installed KAV 5 personal on her pc hoping that it will prove somewhat more effective against her sons wayward surfing habits.

Make sure you set up KAV properly and I bet she will never have another problem. Take a look at my recommended settings HERE.

    ;)

Which antivirus program do you have running resident? AVG or AntiVir?

Have you looked into immunizing the computer with programs such as: spybot search and destroy, SpywareBlaster, IE-Spyad. Besides updates these programs require no interaction.

Also can use spywareguard and/or teatimer if you can trust the son to make the right choice when they popup.

Give us an update in a few weeks if you can now that you have installed KAV.
