    Oops.

    See, that's (one reason) why it's dangerous to tie messaging app accounts to phone numbers.

    Nuking history after N days inactivity isn't reliable. Users may just go inactive for N days, and then be screwed when history is gone.

    And whatever N you pick for the inactivity reset, there's the chance that the phone number will change hands before then.

    Also, it's generally a privacy fail to tie messaging app accounts to phone numbers.
