Portable software to Lock Hosts File

    I am looking for a portable app to lock my hosts file, any help will be appreciated.

    windows can do, but thats not really portable ^^

    your question imply that you are working as admin and have full access to windows path - to bad, but thats your home made problem.

    install any decent full blown antivirus suite and your problem will be solved ^^

    I want to be able to prevent anyone from modifying my hosts (only me) I know you can do it via permissions but not sure how? Do I leave it on System and edit like in the screenshot? I don't want a full blown suite, cause my PC is older and that would slow it down too much.

    Yes, "read-only" is a solution :thumb:
    But even without setting it to read-only, all users have only read-access to this file (Allow: Read+Execute) and this file is already "secured" (only the administrator can modify it)

    There is a portable app that can set it to read-only with a single mouse-click and has some more options:
