Anyone know of a similar (free or pay ware) program to port explorer? that works on 98se.I have a license for PE but it conflicts with certain other software on my system because of the lsp hooks it installs.Ive already tried one called netstat agent ,but that isnt a patch on PE.I dont really mind if it doesnt have the packet sniffing capabilities.I just want port/application monitoring.

thanks.... but it doesnt work with 98se.Ive just tried PE again and got it working. However i had to reinstall parts of AVG ss (email scanner and firewall) and make a new firewall configuration to get it to work. The problem is when PE is installed it layers over the grisoft firewall.Reinstalling AVG firewall layers it over PE ,which seems to work at present.I dont know whether this just happens with 98se though.

    Hi CogitoErgoSum,

I am not sure but I believe that Ellison64 is looking for a substitute to exactly that Port Explorer... Unless there is another software call Port Explorer?

    Happy new year,

    Atomas31,

Thanks for pointing that out. I guess I was just too eager to help out.

    Hi Ellison,

If I understand correctly it is AVG IS that is creating problem with PE? If that's the case maybe you should look for substitute for AVG IS then you might have a more larger options and choices...

Well i guess its a bit of both.If i install PE when AVG IS is already installed ,it installs its lsp over grisofts. This effectivly disables grisoft firewall and email plugin. However reinstalling AVG IS gives grisoft lsp priority over diamond cs (port explorer),and this seems to work at present. If i recall i had the same problem when i used antivir premium which also installs an lsp ,so i wouldnt say its totally an AVG problem.
