<cynicism> Professional inspection of device in compliance with law and good practices is probably also not practical. Police officers should just take a look. If they find something suspicious, but not incriminating they should have a right to tamper and upload incriminating evidence directly to device. Agreed. Related, the Facebook stuff where their app captures all your phone contacts and texts. Nothing private because that is billions of Android Facebook app users. So why scream at the Police when Facebook does it too? Lets scream at all of them, but don't expect it to matter. LOL!
There is one distinguishing feature - at the moment (I think this will effectively change in future) - only the police are able to lock you up and charge you. It's unacceptable that what's already occurring at customs (which is of itself unacceptable), is also presumed to happen to subject (suspects?) going about their own business in their own country without ANY process. It's also happening with FR and ANPR.
