    Hi all,

TrueImage Server 9.1 has been running on our MS Windows 2003 Server for about 3 years; a daily "Full Backup" is performed to a tape device nightly. This week the software has started sending me email alerts every day:

    "Please insert the next volume
Please remove the recorded tape and mark it as Volume 1 then insert the next blank tape. Press OK when ready or Cancel to cancel the operation."

This would make sense if there was too much data to fit on the tape media, however I don't believe this is the case.

I created a new Acronis Full backup job that includes the same data as the existing job and directed the backup to a network drive. The .tib file created on the network drive is 38,587,049 KB in size (if I click Edit the Selected Schedule > Entire Disk or Contents, on the Partitions Selection screen in the bottom left hand corner it states Total Size: 48.49GB) and the tape drive is a HP C7438A with media that is supposed to hold 72GB.

We use tape cleaner every fortnight and HP Library & Tape Tools says the tape device is ok.

Does anyone know what is going on?

    Thanks in advance
    Geoff

Complete successful run of the backup job happened last night, with nothing really changed except a system reboot. I'm wondering if the problem is the OS, Acronis, the HP Tape Device or the HP Tape media

It's probably the tape drive, can't expect it to last forever... I will post updates if I learn anything further
