   to make it short here
   
   from start to finish it took a full 2 hours to get 3.1 running and updated.

   Well obviously, it's not supposed to take that long. Can you provide more information about your system? Version of Windows? Speed of PC? What parts were slowest - ie. where did it take the most time?
