Phishing (fishing) Trojan has been detected on my machine more than once.

This is quite invasive on my privacy.

A Phishing Trojan is a keystroke logger.

It can transmit security information such as Credit Card information to outside parties.

Apart from that it also transmits personal information exchange.

When I found it on my machine it was a .js file (javascript).

I have a number of spyware units and run scans regularly, usually without much worry. Ther is only one of the spyware apps that I run that detected this particular Trojan though.

    This Phishing Trojan concerns me.

I do not know where I got it. I suspect it was from one of my 'friends' on yahoo, but not confirmed.

Is there any way to prevent it from being loaded on my machine?

I would suggest following the steps found here just to make sure your system is clean.

After this you could run one of the Trojans scanners with a real time monitor...

    Hope this helps.

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

HI, if you are concerned about Yahoo Messenger security, set your Anti Virus to scan incoming files.

Open up Yahoo messenger > Go to Messenger tab > File transfer > Use the browse button to locate your Anti Virus in program files.

For added security consider a Firewall, get all Windows critical updates, Anti Virus software and Anti Spyware software kept up to date.

yes, all done. I did not get any downloads from this person.

All files from msn & YIM are run through AVG before fully downloaded.
