    I have a netbook , Asus eepc 1215N, with 2 gb ram.
It has become very slow ,running win 7.
I'd like to install a Linux distro so i hopefully gain some speed back (use it mostly now for browsing ).
My system partition has TC WDE on it , i just started the option:"permanently decrypt system drive/partition".
It has 7 hrs to go .......
Question: can i just format the drive ( with a disk utility run from usb or external cd drive )?
there is no data to be kept.

Sorry I just noticed this. Its is OK to use Partition Wizard (FREE). You can boot from RAM (CDR/USB) and do the deed. Easy.

Actually , i just let TC decrypt overnight, ended up losing my data anyway ( nothing important on it though )
The LXLE linux install did not see the windows install,, i created a partition with Gparted , installed linux , other partitions look empty now .
Anyhow , the LXLE distro is fantastic on an old netbook .
