Hi All, I've had a few users complaining of slow performance while NOD32 V3 is running. It seems to be the real-time file system protection causing it. These users are all running Vista Business, on laptops with only 1Gb ram and slow harddrives. I'm going to upgrade the ram to 2Gb on a few of them to see how much difference it makes. Are there any tweaks within NOD32 I can make to increase performance, without decreasing security too much? Currently the settings are pretty much the same as Blackspears settings. If I remove the "Advanced Heuristics" and "Potentially unwanted applications" from the ThreatSense Parameters, that will stop them being scanned on access. But they will still be scanned on new creation or modification? Any other tweaks?
yes, you are right, it is the better settings. BS suggested settings are too high, in my opinion, and it is the first thing to modify Have a look carefully here you can disabled Adv heuristic in real-time set up because Adv Heur is already enable in "Addittional TheatSense parameters for newly created and modified files". Also, in Advanced setup, when "Optimise scanning" is enable, nod32 wont scan again a known clean file until it is modify. See help files for more details.
Quick question - I'll follow Marcos' statement below, but if you have Adv Heuristics in the Real Time protection set, AND Optimize Scanning enabled, which takes precedence? I'd assume if Optimize is set (so its only doing a scan when a known file is modified), it wouldn't matter if Adv Heuristics is set in the ThreatSense params...
it matters when you surf on the net many data downloaded by internet will be scan by Adv Heuristic and dont really need to... In fact, it increase power need for the real-time protection and can (will.....) slow the pc. But if you have a very powerful pc, you dont care....
So what are the recommended settings for the best balance between performance and security? Does anyone have a config XML they would like to share?
Just as an FYI to others reading this, if you have a fairly recent PC Blackspear's settings work just fine performance-wise; In my case, even with these maxed-out settings (I didn't turn on the logging settings though) my machine is still running faster than with other AVs I put on it previously.
time wasted..... not really, if you didnt try them you didnt know if it runs well or not I tried v3 with BS setting, default setting, customize setting..... anyway it is too much for my old pc. I downgrade to v2.7, now i know I run the best AV version for my pc. I am happy and enjoy regards
