Hi, I have been using NOD32 v2.7 for about a year and a half. Lately, about once a week or so, the sys tray icon fails to appear on boot up. If there is a definitions update, it appears in a dialog box on the center of the screen rather than the customary balloon pop up just above the sys tray icon which is not there. I solve the problem by going to the main menu and clicking Control Panel, where upon the control panel appears along with the sys tray icon. I click off the control panel and all is well for another week or so. Has anyone experienced this and can you offer a remedy? :)

Most likely it is caused by your video card drivers . Uninstall the current one(s) and install the very latest ones. Then , reinstall NOD32 (clean installation procedure) . And use v3 :thumb:

Thanks for the unearned compliment, but I'm no expert. The reason I'm back on v2.7 after the second try with v3 is because of bugs. Although I haven't tried v3.0.642 yet. I have been waiting for a version that works well for most folks.
How is nod32krn.exe behaving in the newest version? :)

Hi, I have never screwed around with drivers etc. hence my signature. :D Could you point me in the right direction to do that? It will probably jar my memory from doing something similar in the past. Thanks. :)

Try first to run Windows Update and it will most likely list an update (if available) for your video card drivers . The update is not when used with the "Express" option , but only if "Custom" is used . So use Custom this time.

If there is an update , install it.

If there is no update listed under Windows Update , I think you can read these (but I prefer Windows Update this time because I am not 100% sure that I point you to the right one):
