    Sorry for being dumb here, but

    An ssd said it required PCIE X 4

    My PC manual: PCI-EX1_4, so the manual is saying I have one, pcie slot by 4.

    And the ssd would work?

    Can the old sata hdd, become a slave, the only reason I see for that, would be int backup drive. Currently I just use a 1tb ext hdd. any other reason for keeping the old drive in the machine.

    Thanks Guys

    And the manual is explicitely saying that this port supports x4?

    Because, if i look into my handbook, the first number means the maximum speed of the PCIE-slot and the second number = the number of the slot.
    For example:
    PCIEx16_1 = Speed x16, Slot 1
    PCIEx16_2 = Speed x16, Slot 2

    So I'm wrong & this slot would not support the ssd:

    Manual PCI-EX1 first number (1) max speed 1, & and that slot is in the #4 position. Which translates to PCI-EX1_4
    NOTE: I thought the SSD would work in #24

    It also mentions "PCI-Express x1 card slot" = Speed x1.

    Or buy a SSD which you can connect to your SATA port. It will give you sufficient speed and will be much faster than your current hdd.
