I installed this morning PCAV free and did a full scan.Nothing out of the ordinary, just a few cookies. But few minutes ago i've take a look at the logs and i saw that a Nvidia file was neutralized...what the heck does this mean, because the Panda's recycle bin is empty o_O

Go to the stats tab of the main GUI. Then click on the "view event report" and post it here please.

Also do you know which version of the Nvidia installer this was?

Sorry,i don't follow you.You want a screenshot of event report or a text file log?
    The Nvidia driver is 8.17.12.8026.

What, You cannot restore a file flagged by a false positive?
This is the same in the traditional Panda products.

It's not about you can't restore the file(although i've had bad experiences with such thing),it's worse. The Nvidia file was "neutralized" according to Panda, but the file is not in Panda's recycle bin,so nothing to restore.

So it wasn't the actual driver but rather the installer that was "neutralized"?

It's part of the driver alright, despite the fact that is in a installation folder.

So the file was removed from the mentioned path and a backup was not performed in the Panda's recycle bin?

As far as I know it's by design that some files can't be restored - but why? :doubt:

I think so.But the question is...in the end, what happened with that file?In scan logs it says "neutralized" and not "deleted".If it was "deleted" like the other malware or FP,the file should have been copied and moved to recycle bin.But "neutralized"...i guess it means "deleted and not copied to quarantine".

Without the actual logs and verification of the file itself on the disk it's complicated to give an answer. We will try to replicate it here.

I had similar experiences with PCAV last year. It deleted files from a game i had installed and it was not in quarantine, could not put them back. This is unacceptable behavior.

As i wrote in a previous post,i don't know which log you want me to post.So i will post a screenshot of the event report and the text log.The file from the Nvidia folder was gone,"neutralized" by Panda.

That's bad, wouldn't want any AV messing with my driver files.

Me too. It just went and whacked some network utilities I've used for years as I watched helplessly while "threat neutralized" notifications flew by. No alerts. No options. No recovery. They should change that to "you're screwed."

Worked for me! PCAV's detections aren't all that much better than others while they've set new detections standards for FPs. Their "our way is the only way" design isn't even worth the price of free admission.

I expect there would be similar postings on PCAV's forum. Has anybody checked? o_O I just did and nothing reported yet.

It's not exclusive to Panda: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=307124

That doesn't help you, but merely pointing out another vendor has similar issues too. I think the important thing is to try and work with the vendor, whichever one it is, to find out why it happened and to prevent it from happening again, which will ultimately benefit other users.
