Hi All, I was wondering how I would go about blocking the main leak tests on “pcflank” and GRC LeakTest with the most recent version of PC Tool’s firewall? I know that these are pretty “old school” nowadays, and Mr. Gibson’s “simple” leak test is controversial to some, though I was able to block it with firewalls such as Online Armor and Norton (but only when Norton had automatic program control turned off and then acts more like a general HIPS so to speak. I also had heuristics set to "aggressive" but this may have been uneccessary?) Norton mentions that these are just what they are: “tests” and they are identified as not carrying a malicious payload so that’s why they don’t block them (Norton’s browser does flag the site as red though!) Anyway, I followed the directions on renaming the files and such. PCT’s had a yellow alert come up asking to block both leak tests but if I remember they supposedly still connected outbound, though in the PC Tools forums they explain in Gibson’s test at least the reason for it not actually following through. And regarding the stability of the firewall in general, ultimately Neil Rubenking of PCMag mentions that he could “easily shut down its protection by stopping and disabling its essential services”, even though it did halt other leak tests from the Core Impact Tool. As far as stealth is concerned on the “pcflank” site, the stealthing of ports was fine… Anyway, just wondered what your thoughts or suggestions are on this and/or what settings need to be tweaked if possible. Thanks!
