what a stupid magazine. How can you rate the best and not include Avast and Eset. Regardless of where they might stack up. Stupid article.

"Most of the heavy hitters have released their 2011 editions, but we're still waiting for ZoneAlarm, Avast!, and PrevX, among others." -The Best Antivirus Software for 2011 - Neil J. Rubenking - 11.10.2010

He's waiting for avast! to release their "2011 edition"... Could be quite a wait :D

Webroot AntiVirus with Spy Sweeper 2011 scored very well in the PCmag.com test. Review is here:

    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2366659,00.asp

I feel the tests/reviews have value, but they shouldn't be viewed as absolute. Tests do a good job of broadly separating the good products from the not so good. The problem starts when people want a simplistic answer to "which one is the best?" and you know what happens here when someone asks that question.

so eset, avira and avast doesnt exist (which count for 350 M users or so) and kaspersky is second worst in virus removal.
they state: " Webroot (see below) has eclipsed Norton as our best ". though i aint a great fan of norton its hard to imagine webroot eclipsing symantec....

Basically this is a best of the worst review with a few top dogs thrown in like Kaspersky, F Secure, Bitdefender, and AVG.

I don't take articles like this seriously as they are not directed at the average member of this forum. They are catering to a novice user base. I don't use any suite with the default settings so all of these tests are irrelevant to me and probably most of us here. I do find them somewhat entertaining to read, but I would not purchase anything based on their findings.

Very strange because Norton is still EC (have a look at the article) but Norton is give 3.5 / 5 points where Webroot gets 4.5 / 5 .

According to the Malware removal chart Norton got it best while Webroot has less points

I am awaiting for the PC-World's review that they did last year with AV-Test. Also awaiting for AVC's corporate comparative (IBK, what happens here? :) )

I can't say with certainty why these products were not included in this "2011" review, but they have been reviewed and can easily be found by searching the site. For instance Avast Internet Security is included in "The Best Security Suites for 2010" review. It may simply be because Avast 5 is not a new product for 2011 that it wasn't included. I think you're perceiving bias where none exists. If you don't agree with the reviews that another matter. Regarding Webroot it's not necessary to imagine anything. You can download a trial version from the webroot site and test it yourself if you wish.

This proves his testing methods are flawed. Webroot the best defence? :argh:

    There is definitely something wrong
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2372371,00.asp

Don't know if they make a difference between EC and favourite antivirus
