    Hi, folks:

Since installing IE7, I noticed that iexplorer.exe 's CPU usage has been fluctuated on my 2 laptops. I did not know why and have no remedy UNTIL..

My friend oversea emailed me that Microsoft knew this issue and has since included the patch in auto d/l for VISTA users ONLY..... WinXP loyalists have to d/l the patch manually from microsoft's site if you have known it.

I have just done that, and immediately feel the damned--late coming differences.

FYI, the patch IS KB928089. It is evidently not on my Window updates list until now.

    Take care.

Thanks for the information. I just got upgraded to IE 7 on a laptop. I don't like the top banner spread when compared to IE 6. It reminds me of the AOL Netscape browser.

KB928089 is a very old update, the most recent cumulative security update for IE7 (KB944533) should fix this problem.

Here is a quote from KB928089 article:

"To resolve this problem, install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 7. To install the most current updates, visit the following Microsoft Web site:"

In fact, the files included in kb928089 are all, obviously, included and updated in kb944533. I listed the file version of the updated binaries included in both updates. Of course, kb944533 contains more updated binaries. I just listed the two that concerns this thread.

    kb928089:
    ieapfltr.dll (7.0.5825.0)
    mshtml.dll (7.0.5730.1001)

    kb944533:
    ieapfltr.dll (7.0.6000.16461)
    mshtml.dll (7.0.6000.20733)

So, if you've installed the most recent cumulative IE7 security update, there's no need for kb928089.
