Hi - I have a rar file that is requesting a password so I can execute it. Can anyone recommend a good (free) password recovery program that's straightforward to use? Thanks a bunch! D;)

Why not contact the creator of the .rar file?

Edit: Asking for a password cracker on a security forum seems wrong.

This thread's gonna get shut down so I'll just go ahead and add my 2 cents in. If it's a file you yourself didn't create (and probably even if you did and forgot the password), you can pretty much forget it. Brute forcing it would just be silly due to the time it would take (unless it's a picture perfect dictionary crap-tastic password). Depending on the program used, zipped files have STRONG security, so yeah, just let it go or try to find a copy of the file without a pass (I have a feeling you downloaded a zipped file from P2P..been there, done that, forget it, you're not getting inside it).
