    Hi,

I am currently using Paragon Backup and Recovery 2010 free Advanced

Does anyone know if it is possible to backup and restore, from / to
    an External USB Hard Drive?

As I usually backup my server over the network to another pc,
but recently when I check the archive integrity it fails.

So I thought I would try and backup to my External USB Hard Drive,
but I can not find an option/menu that will allow me to do this, when
I boot up from the Backup & Recovery Boot Disk , and try to set up
    a backup.

If there is a way could someone let me know as I am struggling to find
    a way to do this.

    Regards,

    Mark

    Hello solarize;

I've used B&R 10 many times for both creating an image and restoring an image. This is always dome via an external USB hard drive.

    First, a few questions.
Is the external USB hard drive formatted ?
Is it recognized by the rescue CD ?

If yes to both, you should be able to create and restore via the rescue CD.

Boot from the CD and choose the normal mode (first option).
Following a successful boot via normal mode, you should be looking at the rescue CD user interface.

Confirm that both the source and target (USB) hard drives show.

From the menu on the left, select backup and restore, then choose backup-.

Select the drive you wish to backup.

Following that selection, you will be asked to choose the destination for the backup image.

Select the external USB hard drive as the backup location.

You will have other options such as compression ratio.
    Usually, "normal" is appropriate.

Following these selections, you should be ready to create the image.
Only after clicking on "apply" will the process begin.

Other methods of accessing the backup and restore functions as well as other options can also be accomplished by the menu at the top of the user interface.

Like other software, you need to familiarize yourself with (it's) many options and characteristics. Work with Paragon B&R 10 until you are comfortable with it.
Once you do, you will have at your disposal a fine backup and restore program that has the added benefit of allowing for either backup or restore from the rescue CD.

I hope this helps, and good luck !

The normal backup or restore wizards should allow you to do this with then external drive showing up in the list of available devices.

Have you tried booting the CD with the USB drive already connected? If it doesn't see the drive, try connecting the USB drive after the main program itself is running (before you start the wizard).

I see wtsinnc has given you good instructions.
