I've never heard of WatchGuard before this thread and I haven't heard much about Panda in years. I guess I won't miss it if it goes. I expect several products to disappear in the near future due to acquisitions such as this.

I used Panda for quite a while, on and off. I don't run AV's now, but it was the best, light, free alternative for me when I couldn't update MSE for over a year. I've always said it was the last best freeware AV. I won't attempt to predict what will happen to Panda. Hopefully it won't go the way of Avast.

We use it at work. It's really light but it doesn't detect much emails that contain malware in attachment. Can't say how effective it is with other threats (web threats, malware on network drives..) since I don't encounter malware that way.

Actually, it is against forum rules* to initiate "A versus B" debates about competing antiviruses, which is precisely what has occurred in this thread. I think Anon was merely calling our attention to this fact in a subtle, friendly way. Further, he never said that anyone's posts are a "big annoying problem."

*A vs B rule is stated here.

I agree, it's a really light alternative to Defender. I hope they can fix automatic program upgrade finally. ;)

AV's are the best argument to ditch Windows for Unix that I've ever heard. I'm just glad I don't need them anymore. I tried the Panda Cloud when it was first released around 2009. I got false positives on the initial scan! It did improve though.

I actually remember a time when it automatically updated, just once. Some bugs seem unfixable.

If we can fly to the moon it should be possible to fix an upgrade bug as well. :D

Yeah, but Apollo computers didn't need anti-malware protection. Must have been Unix. I wouldn't fly around the block with anything using Windows, let alone the Moon.

Great marketing but latest free Panda version is still 20.1 from June? Well done ...
