    Hi!

I have a licence and copy of Outpost Pro v2.7 and asked myself, if I can still use this quite old version. Can anyone please give me an advice, if there are any security related issues with this version of Outpost?

    Thank you,

    Tankred

Excellent version and one of my favourites. It does have the weakness, I believe, of not protecting your machine during bootup but this is not an issue if you are behind a router. Also, it does not have the same anti-leak capabilities of the latest, but it still provides rock-solid application filtering and has the added bonus of allowing one to edit the rules in the presets (preset.lst). You could bolster it with a HIPS or perhaps something like Sandboxie if you like.

I have PC Welt on my desk, 1/2007

It says Outpost Firewall Pro 3.0 on the cover.

    However I didn't install it.

Hello and thank you for all your replies.

I have made a request for that special PC Welt code and tried to use it with both download versions you provided links to. Unfortunately, it worked with none of them. Both versions provided an error message saying, that the licence key has been expired.

    So there are two possibilities:

    1. The key from PC Welt was time limited or
    2. the key works with special versions of Outpost, only.

So I will stick to my good old version 2.7. Too Bad! A free upgrade would have been nice. :p

You could always try out jetico v1 firewall, its more secure than outpost versions 2 & 3. Its free but can be a little hard to use.

Thank you, this version worked flawlessly. The program is now regged and you can use the firewall functions. However, you will not receive any updates for any component. So you should not use this version if you are interested in the spyware removal tool.
