I have tried online armor and PC tools and cannot get them to work. I want to try Outpost. Could someone refer me to a tutorial or post the instructions to set it up for best security.

Could you be a little more specific regarding the inability to get them to work, i.e. what problems are you having?

The Online Armor caused my computer to freeze and the PC tools would not start. There was a message that came up that it had not started and it would might take a few minutes to start. It would never start. I went into services.msc and tried to start it from there with no luck.

I looked at these instructions and they do not seem to track the copy of the program that I have. These instructions must be for the paid version.

I have never used OP Free, and am not qualified to give advice beyond pointing to these links, but here are OP Free FAQs and a general guide for OP:

Alternatively, unless an OP expert reads this thread here, ask in the always helpful OP forum.

PS: You should look at this

and ask knowledgeable members whether it is a good idea to still use OP Free in the first place...

Sorry, I haven't seen either of those issues when trying OA or PCTFW.

This question is probably unnecessary, but anyway, did you make sure any previous firewalls you had used were completely removed and your system rebooted before trying those two?

Recommendation: steer clear of OP free. It is no longer supported and offers weak protection compared to so many other free firewalls.

This is the link for the PDF manual for Outpost version 1 that can be downloaded. However, I don't think it provides much details though.

I agree. I thought for sure we were talking paid version. :thumb:

I have had some difficulty with OutPost. I have reverted back to version I had when I first purchased which is less of a problem. More stable on my system.
