By using both of these, will it present a problem of having "too much" of overlap when it comes to HIPS? I do not use either of these, however, a friend of mine would like run Outpost Firewall Pro 7.5 and SpyShelter Prem. for extra protection.

The HIPS of both programs will be overlapping, maybe would be better to use Spyshelter Premium with a firewall without HIPS, like Comodo Firewall or FortKnox Personal Firewall

The HIPS component of SpyShelter is by no means as full-scope as the HIPS component of the latest version of Outpost Pro (OP). Moreover, OP passes all SpyShelter (SS) keylogger tests. IMO, SS isn't needed when you run OP.

Yes, OP had much larger HIPS rules ''list'' than SS. Some tests with OP's HIPS have failed, like half of the ''screenshot'' test from SS test. I did test this with OP HIPS max and just OP itself running, might be more beneficial to leave system guard and application guard running from OP's HIPS and disable anti-leak. And use SS HIPS. Think this would do it?

    That's an Okay set-up I think.

You might also want to consider this:
    (1) use OP's full HIPS.
    (2) turn-OFF SS System Protection.

    >>>That set-up lets SS do the keylogger protection & lets OP do the HIPS.

I've also felt that it was an "overkill" as far as the HIPS go. Thank you very much for all of your input.

What did you end up doing in the end? I've been tempted to buy SpyShelter as Outpost fails many of the tests as you say but I don't want to cause any conflict between the two.

Right now I am using Outpost 7.1 because 7.5 seems to fail even more of the SpyShelter tests then 7.1.

Its about how you manage your Outpost, use your Custom rules instead of Auto Generated Rules.
The principle are PROMPT EVERYTHING and CUSTOM EVERYTHING
(Block/Prompt all Microsoft files, Digital Signature files and Outpost own files).

Yup this is the way to go :thumb:

I did use Spyshelter and OP firewall pro together, but there were some conflicts. So i removed spyshelter and placed into my laptop setup :)

Which tests does OP fail that makes you think this?

I'm going to hate myself for mentioning this but OP passes 144 out of 148 tests at this site: link. It has a very nice HIPS module really.

The OP Pro score 97% out of 100% and there still more room for improvement ;) so someone should give OP another wake up call otherwise their still half asleep :D

That's cute. While there's always room for improvement I hope your parents didn't tell you that you were half asleep when you scored 97 out of 100 on anything.
