lOutpost keeps pulling up Loadsvc.exe when i start my computer up. This service is launched legitimately by PivX 'Preempt'. I have tried adding the file to Preempt under 'components' but this has not helped. Is there anything else i can do?

    thanks,

    A.

Go to options, application, loadsvc.exe, process memory control
click add, scroll list until you see C:\ProgramFiles\Pivx\PreEempt\Loadsvc.exe
click apply, ok, and ok again, and reboot, this should solve your problem.

    Regards,

Wake2 - thanks for the reply. There is no 'process memory control'. The only close match to that is to go to applications, loadsvc.exe, right click to modify rules, then components. When i go to 'add' here it comes up with an open file box. I am using version 2.6 if this makes a differance...

    thanks again,

    A

I use OutpostPro 2.7 and have PreEmpt installed,
the conflict with OP and PreEmpt is in the process
memory control as at boot Op fires up bunch of
warnings about PreEmpt modifiying memory in a
few programs and OP blocks those programs.

To resolve this open OutPost, click options, and
applications, scroll the list of partially allowed
applications until you find loadsvc.exe, than
click process memory, (right side of OP box
above hidden process, and component control),
in the process memory box click add, scroll the
    list till you see C:\WINDOWS\PIVX\PREEMPT\LOADSVC.EXE
and click apply, ok, ok again, and reboot.

    Hope this explains it better,

    Wake

Thanks for your help Wake2, however, there is no 'process memory, (right side of OP box above hidden process, and component control)'. Whats going on here, do i need to update or something?

    thanks,

    A

ok, since i have version 2.6 and do not have the exlcusion option i would like to d/l the version 2.7.

i have a few issues regarding this:

    a) will i be allowed to do this, i do have 114 days left on my subscription?

    b) if i am allowed - i cannot find my product key anywhere, is there any way i can get agnitum to send it to me etc.

    b) if i do upgrade and if i save my current confuguration, does that save my rules also? (having to go through all of my rules again would drive me crazy!)

    thanks once again,

    A

    (a) yes

    (b) if you go to http://agnitum.com/support/contact.php the drop down list on type of issue includes lost registration key.

    (c) yes--when updating it detects the current configuration and asks if you want to keep it--as a precaution you might want to use the following procedure

using Windows Explorer or some substitute for it go to outpost firewall folder (on mine it's C:\programs\agnitum\outpost firewall).

Copy the following four files to another folder:

    C:\Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost Firewall\configuration1.cfg
    C:\Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost Firewall\configuration1.cfg.bak
    C:\Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost Firewall\configuration1.conf
    C:\Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost Firewall\configuration1.conf.bak

Install the new copy of Outpost. Use the configuration Wizard and just accept whatever it wants. After install, shut down OP by right clicking on the tray icon and selecting the shut down Outpost option.

After shutting down, copy the four files you saved to the Outpost Firewall folder. Restart Outpost. You'll be back in business with your old configuration.

You can just load the previously saved configuration files using File/Load Configuration, but it does make sense to keep a backup copy elsewhere for reinstalls.

Glad to help - however if you can't upgrade to 2.7 for any reason, there are a couple of workarounds listed in the "Known Issues" section of Outpost 2.5 - what to expect.
