    Hi Toby,

if unsure on a setting, just set it to "Use Global" (Prompt). If after several days use you are not alerted on a particular Action, you can probably set it to "Block"

I can't use either one of them.It installs then when it reboots it asks to enter the key. When I try to click on it the pc and Outpost stop responding.

When I deinstall OP in safe mode .My PC works again. What can I do? Is it Vista SP2?

I also deinstalled NOd32 thought it might help. But nothing.

And I have super anti-spyware on my machine and Malwarebytes. But both only on-demand. Should be fine right?

Does one need to pay yearly for the Anti-Spyware signature updates with the Lifetime license?

    Thank you,

Never mind, I just downloaded the Quick Startup Guide and it answered my question, thanks.

    Hi Acadia,
in the Quick Startup Guide there is no info about the lifetime licenses.
With a normal license you get a perpetual/lifelong license (you can use the product as long as you like) and an upgrade license (you can upgrade and get signature updates for the period of the agreement).

With a lifetime license you pay only once, for both signatures and future upgrades.

Page 11: When you buy an Outpost Firewall Pro license, you actually get two licenses:
    • A license for Outpost Firewall Pro usage (lifelong);
    • A license for free upgrades and support for one year (including the latest Outpost Firewall Pro
    versions).
In a year you can either buy a renewal license for another year of upgrades and support (Annual Update
and Support contract) or simply continue using your last updated version of Outpost Firewall Pro. To
purchase a renewal, visit this page: http://www.agnitum.com/purchase/renewal/index.php.

That info does not apply to lifetime licences; only to normal ones.

So lifetime and lifelong means two different things?

    Yes.

lifelong = perpetual, e.g. you can use the version 6.x which you paid, for as long as you like. :)

lifetime = free upgrades as long as outpost firewall exists. :D

Ok, so I purchased what was advertised as Lifetime on the website. How does that relate then to the anti-Spyware signature updates, in other words, I guess I am back to square one, my original question. o_O

You will continue to get signature updates and product upgrades for "ever" (for the lifetime of the product).

If you really like a product is always a great deal to get a lifetime license. If I am not mistaken Agnitum has offered 2-3 times in the past lifetime licenses.
Exactly. It means that a product is not time-bombed.

Is it ok to tell Outpost to "auto-train for a week"? I'm thinking it might help solve some problems I've had.

If you're 100% sure your system is clean, then yes. If not, then no. Why? If malware is present, since it is in auto-train, then rules will also be created for those malware.

The best approach is to set it, if you want it that way, to automatically create rules for well-known and digitally signed applications. That takes out from you most of the alerts you'd see in the more furtive mode, if I may call it that way.

So, unless you're 100% your system is clean, do not.

I'm almost sure there's no malware, but since I've had internet loss and system freezes using auto-create, maybe try training for a couple hours. That might be safer than a week.

In my opinion, using auto-creat is not very safe.Because now some viruses can forge a signature. It is deadful.

Outpost doesn't only check if the application has a digital signature. It also checks for checksum, name and path, as far as I know.
