I searched first, everywhere, it can't be just me. As of yesterday afternoon when I launch Outlook (latest 365 version) it crashes immediately. This happens on 2 different PCs. I figured out if I remove the Hotmail accounts (2 of them) it runs fine. It won't work with either. I tried repairing Office and deleting and adding back the accounts one at a time. It will not run with either. I can access both through Outlook.com. Is anyone else having any issues?
You could take it as a opportunity to rename those hotmail.com email addresses to outlook.com addresses https://www.groovypost.com/howto/rename-hotmail-dot-com-to-outlook-email/
Thanks for the info but I don't expect it will solve this problem and as they are very old accounts I am concerned about getting the mail that comes to them. They would probably forward for a while but I expect they would cut that off at some point. And that is only if someone else doesn't already own the account that would have the same name under that domain.
Thanks but unfortunately it doesn't do much. I had checked it yesterday and didn't see anything that would indicate an outage that would cause this problem. I suspect there probably aren't a lot of users that are checking their email through desktop Outlook with a Microsoft email account. Most people are probably checking these accounts on a portable device. The worst part is crashing the whole program. I could deal with an outage but crashing the whole program makes it difficult to check the other accounts I have.
Ok, solved. I remembered I was on the Current Channel (Preview) and I backed out of that and reinstalled and it works now. I guess this means the Preview channel is broken. I hope they fix it before they release to standard updates.
