Outlook 2007 on vista restore problem!

    Hi,

    I wonder can somebody help please, I made a back up of my emails from outlook 2007 on vista sp1, with ati11. i know have a clean install of all software, have run outlook a couple of times to make sure config files have been writen.:rolleyes:

    but when I restore from the archive, it doesnt write any of the email data, only the email accounts.:eek:

    I have verified the archive, it and seems ok. Does anyone have any suggestions?:'(

    Could you already find out something about this?
    I downloaded the test version of Acronis True Image Home 11.

    Backed up Outlook 2007 on XP (created a >500mb file) and tried to restore in Vista.
    Simply opens, runs through rapidly without really doing anything, mentioning restore was successful.

    Would be also a requirements for purchasing to get this working ...

    Please notice that e-mail backups are intended to be restored to the installation of Windows/e-mail client they were taken from. They cannot be restored to a different installation of Windows, or e-mail client.

    :eek: Holy Cow!

    Please clarify.

    Are you saying that if I backup my Outlook 2007 PST files with ATI11, then do a clean install of vista that I can't restore my Outlook backup!??

    Hello mranybody,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Marat just says that if you back up Outlook under XP and then try to restore it under Vista, we can't guarantee this should work correctly. At the same time if you restore backup under the same Operating System it was created under, all should work correctly.

    If you have your PST files in a TI Image backup or a TI Files & Folders backup, you can restore the PST file onto the same or a different Windows OS (XP -> Vista, Vista -> XP, etc.). Then just open (or import) it with Outlook.

    That's great news. I was thinking I must have it wrong, as well as hoping my deduction was way off!

    i have the same probleme but i'm always on Windows XP.
    i backup my email when i reinstall windows and try to restore no think:mad: .
    when browsing the back up image (size= 125 Mb) but there is only empty folders in...
    please help me

    Please notice that e-mail backups are intended to be restored to the installation of Windows/e-mail client they were taken from. They cannot be restored to a different installation of Windows, or e-mail client. On a different installation you can restore the .pst file separately and then import it into your e-mail client. Please also have a look at this Acronis KB article.
