Is Ghostscript a good replacement for Acrobat
Reader for openning .pdf files (any .pdf file)? Has it all the features that Adobe Acrobat Reader has?

Ghostscript has a lot more features than Acrobat Reader. It's reader and distiller and somewhat more I guess.

Biggest plus of Reader is that it's by Adobe and easily integrated in browsers, on several platforms. So it's lots more user friendly.

If you need a reader: use Acrobat Reader (it is free after all).

If you need a distiller... depends. There are several 'printer drivers' that use Ghostscript as a distiller like driver (I used Zipguy's freepdf, nice, free). Right now I moved over to OpenOffice.org, great tool to create PDF's. I prefer the output quality of OOo to Ghostscript (but I'm no expert).
