    Just one question more:

    How TI works:

    a) while backup process all common file (sector) writes saved to buffer and backup
    processed from real file

    or

    b) while backup process all common file (sector) writes saved to real file,
before actual writing previous file contents saved to buffer and backup
    processed from buffer.

.....and how TI coexist with MS VSS (volume shadow copy)

    Ivar.

Could be that Acronis Support are too busy sorting out real problems and don't have the time (or patience) to continue answering your hypothetical questions. Just what do you hope to do with the information gained here and in your previous thread?

    Hello Ivar,

Thank you for your continued interest in Acronis True Image technology.

The answer to your question is variant b) and also is a part of our backup technology. Please read the following article written by our main developer (he developed the drivers for Acronis products to work under Windows): http://www.acronis.com/company/inpress/2003/01-ctr-disk-imaging.html

As for the Volume Shadow Copy service introduced in Windows 2003 Server - these are file based copies of the folders you choose this service to be enabled on. Acronis True Image is a sector-based solution and it doesn't correlate with Volume Shadow Copy service.

    Thank you.
