I have my Smart Security set up to scan every day ay 2AM-did not mess with the settings-why then would it scan 394 (and some) thousand files one day and only 144 thousand the next day? I just started using Eset SS4 around the first of the year-so maybe I am not aware as of yet...

    Hello Tomface
Has your PC been closed down or does it run 24 / 7.Why I ask is because if you run a Scan, ( and you Pc has not been closed) and after some time run a scan agin, you will see fewer files scanned and therefore a shorter scantime.
I have just run a smartscan. Files: 315010, time 20:11 .....Second round: Files:100830 Time. 01:57 seconds.

    Best Regards

    Woodgiant.

    WoodG,

We run 24 x 7-and what you say makes sense-but I had 3 days straight where the numbers were within spitting...I run in-depth scans-so they should take about 1h 45 mins (hence running them at off hours-I usually don't wake up till 4AM-late I know)

So.....(I think this system transcribed my "D" sectors into smiley faces..go figure)

Perhaps the best would be to enable logging of all scanned files and then compare scan logs to find out the difference.

Marcos-come to think of it, I do have logging enabled-will take a look at them-it happened again this morning (only 144551 scanned 2AM-just finished another scan-just for laughs-and it scanned 398512 files) I also deleted the daily scan I built in scheduler and rebuilt it just to be sure.

    Thanks for the help....
