Oh-Oh....crunch time.

Hi

We've got 2 pcs here in our little room we work in. Both P4s' with XP pro

We run Acronis 8 TI Workstation version i think its called or something like that. One of the PCs is sick and we need to boot it via the acronis boot disk so we can revert it back to before it crashed. The PC slows at load time where it offers 'boot from CD' then goes on to that windows XP loading screen...then reboots around and around.

The backsups are a full image from last week and daily incremental back ups since.

This is my first time and I'm not sure what to do as the techy guy we know ain't here. Run me thru what steps to do plz??

Talk to the tech guy who maintains/supports your system.
If you haven't been trained in how to backup/restore your system then you are likely to get into all sorts of problems. Nobody is going to thank you, or me, if I offer any other advice and your system gets irretrievable damaged.

QUOTE]It sounds as though your system is set to boot from a bootable CD like the TrueImage Recovery CD, but you need to hit a key to let it know you want to use the CD - otherwise it continues booting off the hard drive into Windows.

Once you get the system to boot from the TI CD, it will look just like the Windows version of the program and you can use the mouse to double click on Restore and then follow the prompts.

Where is the backup image that you want to restore? You will need to point TI to that location to do the restore.

WARNING! When you restore a backup image, all the contents of the restored partition are GONE and the partition reverts to how it was when you made the image. If you have data such as My Documents or e-mail, etc. on the partition, it will be GONE!!!! There is no way to get it back after a restore. If this is not a problem, proceed with the restore.

If you have data that you can't afford to lose on the partition you will be restoring, you will need to copy it to another location on a different partition on drive to avoid losing it.

If you have more questions, ask them before you do the restore.
