I know that this doesn't belong here, but I thought it might an interesting topic none-the-less. Has anyone heard of this site called Bank of Malware? Apparently the concept is to track an MD5 hash and get statistics on how prevalent a piece of malware is.

This may be worthy of a blog talk. :) I'm very curious as to know what ESET thinks about this idea.

Can't see why ESET Av cant do a normal virus scan taking hash tags of clean files then in future just compare the tags to a database built by ESET, am I making sense?

Eset does that as of version 4.2. Its called smart optimization. However its only if the virus signature has not been updated since the file was last scanned

I just think it's an interesting concept for people to track the lifecycle of a virus.

    I wonder how it'll work.
