    Hi folks,
I have noticed that after yesterday's update of NIS2010 to the latest build 17.6.0.32 a number of scanned files by the default scan in Prevx is significantly lower than before the update. Usually cca 25.000 files have been scanned before. Now Prevx scans cca 17.000 files only. I have not changed anything in Prevx or NIS. Both run well, so I don't feel in danger. I am rather curious why it could happen.
Do another NIS+Prevx users have noticed such decrease of scanned files in Prevx after the NIS update?
Joe, do you think it would be worth sending you a scan log for perusal?
    Thx,
    pegas

I remember Joe saying as Prevx gets to know your system there will less files to scan! But it does scan the critical system files and folders always!

EDIT: If you are concerned you can always do a full system scan once a month as I do via Tools>Advance Scan>Full Scan!

I just did a scan on my main system with 106GB used space and only scanned 17,494 files!

And this was an Automatic scan a few minutes later so it goes up and down :D Notice the scan times also between the two! LOL

Thx Triple Helix for valuable inputs :thumb: . I don't worry that my security might be compromised in any way, I know my system is clean. The point is that before the update of NIS2010 Prevx has been scanning significantly more files than now. I followed your test and the result is always cca 17.000 files regardless if it is a manual or automated scan. It would had to be a coincidence that Prevx has learned my system right when the NIS was upgraded.

OK I gave my VAIO a deserved rest for 2 days and today's after-boot scan showed cca 25.000 files ... probably also computers need to take breath :D

I have one question as I don't understand how exactly Prevx works.
I have downloaded virus for testing Antivurs software from : http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm
It is a small .com file, only 68 bytes.
I put that file in root of C drive.
Then I clicked on "Scan My PC Now" and it didn't found anything.
Then I right clicked on that file and select Scan with Prevx.
    It founded then as threat.
So, how come "Scan My PC Now" didn't detect it before ?

Prevx's scan focus on active threats. It ignores files that sit there doing nothing, but will block them if they become active with it's realtime protection.
