It used to be the old Freedom Security Suite, which was licensed from Authentium.

Therefore, NetGuard is probably based upon the Authentium Desktop Security Suite which includes virus protection, antispyware, personal firewall, parental controls, popup blocker.

IME, CSAV is a good AV but I cannot comment about the rest of the Suite.

being an ntl customer myself, i can say with confidence that NTL Netguard is poor, a massive resource hog and it will crash your machine a few times, also ... un-installation is 'almost' impossible.

    use at your own risk.

No it is very light.I allready did a reinstall with no problems,i had to because it contained a firewall ,and i didnt know.Removed sygate and now run ntl firewall.
In the last week i changed from antivir ,because of update problems to avg. This runs lighter.Tried it in the past ,but now it includes firewall ,antispyware, and antivirus. The whole thing is running and i dont know its there.I am also sure authentium is not a poor antivirus.

well i have told you so, i dont want to be the one to say 'i told you so'

maybe google it and also try http://www.ntlhell.co.uk for more information, but it is far from light, really heavy.

    ok,

done a full scan with the new beta,

found 2 threats which the old scanner did not.

one is an XP printer x64 driver, most likely an FP
and another is located in C:/i386 and is Adware.Gdown.origin

it automatically deleted the adware, and quarentined the xp driver, which i will send for analysis, most likely an FP ... panda also detects these drivers as threats too.

Yes done some searches before using ,and found other places where it gets good reviews. You probably had some conflict with other software because the antivirus is one of the lightest around.

    http://www.freedom.net/index-nf.php

    look familar? o_O

it is rubbish, low detection, full of bugs, un-installation issues and its extremely heavy on machine performance.

there are much better free security options out there, with good detection, none or few bugs, no un-installation issues and great on pc performance.

    netguard gets a big :thumbd:

Trying the beta 6.Raxco perfect disc is included, along with pc optimizer ,back up and restore.Firewall now allows adding ports for programs,Antivirus scores advanced, and still runs light here.

I'm not entirely sure whether the NTL suite uses the F-Prot 4.x (6.x) engine. The old F-Prot v3 engine would still score only Standard on AV-comparatives. :doubt:

Even if it is from Authentium, the fact is that they still need to upgrade the engine when it is available to them, and what I do not know is whether they have stuck to the F-Prot 3.x engine or have shifted to the 4.x one.

Its the same suite as Blueyonder Pcguard. It would never install properly on my machine. However, it left freedom.sys driver installed. Whenever I tried deleteing it I would lose internet connection. Had to reformat in the end. Junk!
