Using XP SP3 and NOD32 4.0.437.0. I turned loose a script that replaced the owner and permissions on the folders in "Program Files". When I looked at the result file I saw that it forced a change on C:\Program Files\Eset\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Drivers. I think at the least there must not have been any List Folder Contents or Traversal access.

I wonder if that folder had limited access in order to help prevent malware from getting into it? If so, can anyone say what the permissions are?

    Hello DesertRat,

The self defense module keeps the ESET files, folders, services, drivers, and registry entries from being modified and/or disabled. This way malware can not compromise the ESET software. It is not recommended to disable any modules of the software. If you need to change something, I would suggest reinstalling the software as the user instead of changing owner of it manually.
