Found this quirk below while surfing.:)

Notepad displayed squares instead of the text on my machine.

This actually works. It will not crash your computer, it just breaks Notepad in that it causes it to display very oddly. No perm damage comes of the following steps.

    Here's how to do it:
    1. Open up Notepad (not Wordpad, not Word or any other word processor)
    2. Type in this sentence exactly (without quotes): "this app can break"
    3. Save the file to your hard drive.
    4. Close Notepad
    5. Open the saved file by double clicking it.

Instead of seeing your sentence, you should see a series of squares. For whatever reason, Notepad can't figure out what to do with that series of characters and breaks.

well, it even happens with Notepad2. from reading user comments, its a bug with UTF. theres also other phrases u can enter to create the squares/asian text.

"abcd efg hij klmno" also works.

So does "oioh aki dhm nzsdk", or just about any letters only combination in the pattern of "4444 333 333 55555".

However, you can still view the original text by using the "edit" command from a command line shell.

    Curiouser and curiouser.

    OK Franklin,
I couldn't open your link the first time, that happens sometimes with other websites too. This time I could open it.
Nevertheless weird. I couldn't believe you (sorry), but it happened to me too. I've never seen this before. This should NOT happen, must be a bug IMHO.

One post removed as it may spur on political comments, which are of course against our TOS.

    Regards;

Oooops, that was me folks. I tend to be apolitical and just thought it funny. Oh well, c'est la vie et c'est la TOS.
