Except for a few minor programs, my system has been fairly static the past few months and figured that was the reason Prevx has been so quiet. Was playing with a new install of sandboxie in a VM last evening and Prevx (not current release) scanned as i installed sandboxie. Normal right. This morning i installed Sandboxie and Avira on my real system and not a peep from Prevx I'm using the latest version (free) with SOL disabled. Does prevx not scan new installs anymore?? I have it set as below:
Yes it does, Maybe those files are OK so no pop-up! Do you have any malware to test it in your VM? Only if you want to! I'm not recommending to do so! If you do make sure you have some Army Boots Handy TH
hehe Ok, have the latest version in the VM and appears to work fine. Wondering if on my real setup, it's private firewall possibly interfering with Prevx.
Anything is possible have a look around in your firewall! TH EDIT: Forgot to say maybe your Army Boots are the problem
SafeOnline is built to have a more streamlined user experience and will therefore not show the Authenticating Files dialog... although it "should" listen to the configuration you've set there and override the default (which is to hide the dialog). It could very well be that the verifications are taking place very quickly and there is no need to show the Authenticating Files screen (which only shows if the verification with the database is taking longer than 0.1 seconds). Let me know what you find! It would definitely be worth saving a scan log and sending it to report@prevxresearch.com just so that we can double check that everything is working properly for you
Well, it appears to be a compatibility issue with Private Firewall. Gave Prevx full access in both internet and application control but no change even with private firewall completely shutdown. Did a complete re-install of Prevx (with firewall shutdown) and it then worked normally until private firewall started on a reboot. Back to being quiet. First thing this morning, uninstalled private firewall - rebooted and Prevx was talking again. I'm behind a router so only looking for outbound internet access control. Can Prevx be setup up to do this as i need a new firewall now??
I personally don't use a firewall and Prevx doesn't have one included but there are many freeware firewalls which should be a good complement to Prevx - I suspect some of the other members here will have a well informed opinion on them!
Hey There Yes i knew that but sometimes an app can be tweaked per say to do something that it wasn't intended to do. I know all the firewalls - went through quite a few before deciding on Private firewall - sigh Thanks
