    Can anyone answer this question?
    Does Norton antivirus use heuiristics? All of the well known antivirus programs have the same boiler plate virus definitions in the dta bases. The better programs can detect previously unknown viruses through suspicious behavior. Is Norton one of those programs? Thanks.

    Yes , Norton/Symantec does have heuristic technologies called Bloodhound or something like that . Tests shows they detect no more than 25% of all the tested malware . However , these heuristics detect mainly malware that exploits IE,malware that uses a particular IE vulnerability . I think these heuristics were created mainly to somehow protect Internet Explorer.
