Here's a comment from Symantec's Senior Vice President:

I read it too and was about to post it in the "sells out"-topic. Think it's a great example of a big company listening to their customers.

I would be interested in hearing about why they partnered with ASK/IAC.

It's not a good search engine, for general purposes.

The only reason I can think of for its inclusion is 'money'.

I'm not going to email those folks, but if anyone can get a decent answer, I (and others) would like to hear about it.

Its too little too late for me ive lost all hope in norton, as far as im concerned they will always be pulling crap like this. What happens if the next time there isnt enough of a public uproar to make them u-turn? Norton cant help themselves, they are greedy corporate scumbags, its in their DNA!

Thanks, as always, for your candid feedback here in the forums.
What a joke. Norton very often deletes criticism on their board. So many users have had their posts taken down. Hypocrites! :'(

The proposed patch is now available. NIS 2009 16.5.0.315 has SafeSearch disabled by default.
